“Start Your Own Business”

Are you considering starting a business but you aren’t sure how to get started? If that’s you or someone you know, join us every month in one of our 5 locations for our Start Your Business workshop.

This free one-hour workshop covers the essential information you need in order to take the next step in developing your business concept.

Topics include:

  • Characteristics of successful entrepreneurs.
  • Assessing the economic feasibility of your business concept.
  • How to comply with rules and regulations.
  • How to finance your business.

“Explore and Define Your Business”

In Explore and Define Your Business, you will be in an environment with like-minded individuals who are thinking about entrepreneurship and their business idea. Explore and Define Your Business is 12-hour business training series.

This series is intended to develop a healthy foundation for participants to build their business on. It requires the person to reflect on how their family, finances, values, and motivations will affect their business. Each participant completes a personal financial statement, participates in a workshop put on by Consumer Credit Counseling, learns about individual development accounts, and resources for credit counseling and financial education classes.

Topics include:

  • Explore your personal readiness for entrepreneurship.
  • Define and refine your business idea.
  • Identify support and networking systems.
  • Examine personal ability to manage money and maintain accurate business records.
  • Learn where to find the information needed to prepare a business plan.

Program Fees:

The program fee is $100 or $5 if your income qualifies.

How do you know if your income qualifies?

Your income qualifies if your total gross income of last tax year or your current income falls within the ranges below corresponding to your county of residence and number of people in your household.

For example if you live in Marion county in a household of 3 people and your income falls at or below $40,700, then your income qualifies for the reduced fee. If your income qualifies for the fee reduction, you will need to provide income verification, such as a pay stub or tax return.

“Launch Your Business”

Launch Your Business is a more intensive 21-hour business training series in which participants learn the particulars of running a business from developing marketing plans to putting together a balance sheet to figuring out an appropriate legal entity.

There are some prerequisite requirements participants must demonstrate before entering Launch Your Business. These requirements, like completing a business plan, ensure that they will get the most out of the series and are on the path to business success. Each participant must identify a personal and professional network that will support them in their business endeavor; this network is a critical component to business success. In the series, you will perform weekly research and present your findings to your peers.

  • Finance/Accounting
  • Marketing
  • Operations

Program Fees:
